Vision:
To empower, inspire, and connect high-school students (15-18 yrs old) with adult mentors in the Ojai Valley.
Specifics:
BLINC will be a 10 week program that brings students from different high schools together (public and private). Workshops are held each week on Monday nights for 2 hrs at Chaparral High School Auditorium. It will complete with an Open MIC Night Event at Matilija Jr. High School Auditorium open to the community, written, planned and performed entirely by student voices.
Process:
BLINC will be broken down into three sections: (Weeks 1-3) Character Building/Empowerment, (Weeks 4-6) Vocational Training/Role Models, (Weeks 7-9) Goal Setting/Future Inspiration. (Week 10) is the Open MIC Night Event. Through these workshops, we will bring in more community members as mentors and build perspectives and voices for young adults.
Outcome:
Each teen will gain self-confidence, a deeper understanding of their potential, and a different approach to establishing and accomplishing goals.
